Obituary

CHICOPEE – Pauline M. (Romanovicz) Harding, 88, of the McKinley House in Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Sunday, February 12, 2023. She passed into Eternal Life at home surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born at home on Montgomery Street in Chicopee on March 1, 1934, a beloved daughter of the late Michael A. and Frances J. (Chliszczyk) Romanovicz. She was raised in Chicopee, graduated from Chicopee High School and later lived in Springfield before moving back to Chicopee around 1978. She was a longtime hairdresser and had owned and operated the former Pauline’s Beauty Salon on Chicopee Street in Chicopee. She later was a hairdresser for many years at Loomis House in Holyoke, the Hair Stop on East Street in Chicopee and lastly at the Hair Team on Burnett Road in Chicopee. During her leisure time, she enjoyed trying her luck at Foxwoods Casino, golfing, playing cards with her friends, dancing and was an avid Elvis Presley fan. She was a wonderful cook and her family and friends always enjoyed her delicious golumpki and apple pies. She loved her apartment at the McKinley House in Chicopee where she made many friends. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and her many friends. She leaves her two loving sons, Peter Harding and his wife, Josephine, of Jacksonville, FL and David Harding of Chicopee; her five cherished grandchildren, Peter Harding, Jr, Sophia Harding, Samara Suprenant and her life partner, Gary Bousquet, Denise Gaspari and her husband, Greg, and Mary Harding and her life partner, Matt Cross; her seven cherished great grandchildren, Catrina Benoit, Desire, Jacob and Krista Bousquet, Daniel Schaffer, Amber Erickson, and Alexa Gaspari; her four cherished great great grandchildren, Logan, Grayson, Adele and Xaysias; her dear brother, Paul Romanovicz and his wife, Janet, of Chicopee. In addition to her family, Pauline also leaves her best friends of over 50 years, Jane and Tom Aubey; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and numerous friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her three dear brothers, Michael Romanowicz and his wife, Kathy, John Romanovicz and his wife, Candice, and Walter Romanovicz and his wife, Emily. She will also be deeply missed by her faithful great grand dog, Dozer. Her family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 6 p.m. at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. The parking lot and main entrance of the funeral home are located in the rear at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will be private. Flowers may be sent to the funeral home or memorial donations may be made in her memory to the Soldier’s Home in Holyoke, 110 Cherry Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
