Obituary

Vincent Nze Jackson, affectionately known as Jackson, passed away on January 31st, 2023, after a prolonged illness in which he bravely and resolutely fought with a determined spirit. Jackson was born to Sampson Iroabuchi Jackson and Dorothy Egbutu in Lagos, Nigeria. He was the second child out of nine children.

Upon completing his studies in Nigeria, Jackson came to the United States to further his education in Dallas, Texas. Missing home, Jackson decided to move to Massachusetts where he had some family members that he could lean on. He was able to flourish in Boston, earning his bachelor’s degree from Northeastern University and then an MBA from University of Phoenix.

In 1987, Jackson met the love of his life Deysi Contreras who would become his wife for 32 years. Together they built a beautiful family which included their two children, Alexandria, and Alonzo Jackson.

Jackson worked in finance for over 25 years. He was a loyal and dedicated employee, who believed in the work he did. He believed in integrity, sticking to commitments, and real teamwork which made him an integral part of the commercial loans department at Bank of America. His colleagues trusted and respected him as he was the first one to jump in help.

His core beliefs in doing what is right and kind made him a truly supportive, selfless, and proud man. He was proud of his Nigerian culture, cherished his life in Nigeria and here in Boston. His biggest joy in life was spending time with his family and friends as his smile was just as big as his heart. Jackson was kind and true friend as he knew the true meaning of the word.

Jackson loved to travel with his wife and children. From road trips up the Pacific Coast Highway listening to some of his favorite artists like Michael Jackson and Barry White to enjoying rollercoasters with his children, Jackson believed that life should be enjoyed.

Jackson was born in a Christian family. Once in the United States he initially attended multiple churches. In the mid-2000’s he became a full member of Grace Episcopal Church (Medford, MA) which was a pivotal moment in his Christian walk. During the darkest days of his illness, it was his faith that kept him positive and fighting. He was committed to his faith and served God joyful until the Lord call him for a rest.

He leaves his cherish memory to his devoted wife Deysi Jackson, beloved children Alexandria and Alonzo, his ever attentive mother-in-law Lidia Pichardo, loving siblings Constance Akpan Bernard, Samuel Jackson, Ezioma Grace Okpala, Iheoma Okorie, and John Okechukwu Jackson. As well as his adoring cousins, Priscilla Ngozi Egbutu and Linda Chikezie and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
