Obituary


Arthur A. Gentile, a longtime resident of Woburn formerly of Medford passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Tuesday, February 14, 2023. He was 93. Arthur was the beloved husband of the late Elizabeth (Perrone) Gentile. Born in Boston he was one of five children of the late Joseph and Rosa (Ferlauto) Gentile.

Arthur was raised and educated in Medford where he was a graduate of the Medford Technical Vocational High School. He went on to further his education and earned his BS degree in Electrical Engineering from Northeastern University. Arthur also proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was the recipient of the Korean Service Medal with 1 bronze star, the United Nations Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. Following his service time, Arthur began his career that spanned over forty years working for the Federal Government as an Engineer and Administrator prior to his retirement.

Family was everything to Arthur and nothing made him happier than to be surrounded by those he loved. He enjoyed all family gatherings with his immediate family, cousins and extended family members. He loved wine making, keeping busy and working with his hands, cooking with traditional family recipes and especially sharing and teaching these treasured recipes with his children and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.

Arthur is survived by his devoted children, Joseph Gentile and his wife Elaine of Freedom, NH, Arthur Gentile Jr., of Billerica, Vincent Gentile and his wife Kim of Wilmington, Christopher Gentile and his wife Carolyn of Woburn, and the late David Gentile. He was the loving grandfather of Joseph, Matthew, Christopher, Andrea, Alicia, Brandon, Megan, Elizabeth, and Arthur. Loving great grandfather of Max, Aria, and Giovanni. Brother of the late Helen Demaggio, Rose DeVita, John and Joseph Gentile.

Funeral services will be held from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., Woburn, Thursday, February 23rd, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass celebrated in St. Barbara Church, 138 Cambridge Rd., Woburn, at 10 a.m. Services will conclude with Military Honors and burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours at the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Family Funeral Home will be held on Wednesday, from 4 to 8 p.m. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Arthur's memory to the New England Shelter and Home for Veterans, 17 Court St., Boston, MA 02108.
