John Knochenhauer, 69, of Groton passed away peacefully Friday, February 10, at his home.
John is survived by his sister, Anne-Marie Knochenhauer of Groton; his nephew Robert Knochenhauer of Hull, Ma; his great-nephew James Knochenhauer of Billerica MA; and his great-niece Renee Knochenhauer of Billerica, MA. He was predeceased by his parents Karen Johansen Knochenhauer and Conrad Knochenhauer.
John was a man who embraced his life fully and enjoyed every moment. As a younger man, John served his country in the US Navy. In recent years, John took solace in delivering papers; the New York Times, the Hartford Courant, and the Day throughout the southwest area of Connecticut. John contemplated the world around him in ways that were unique to him and while we are deeply saddened by his sudden passing, we’re very grateful that he had no pain and was essentially himself until the end.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 18, at 11:00am at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, 310 Fort Hill Road, Groton. A luncheon reception will follow the service. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
