Obituary

Brian Stephen Dextradeur passed away peacefully on February 11, 2023. He was born on May 9, 1938, in New Bedford, MA, to Lewis and Ann Dextradeur. He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his brother John Dextradeur. Brian is survived by his loving and devoted wife Alice Oberdorf, brother David Dextradeur, stepson Oliver Oberdorf, daughters Karen (Emory) Bottorff and Jill (Mark) Pedersen, and son Scott Dextradeur. Brian also leaves behind five grandchildren: Christian Bottorff, Brian Bottorff, Theodore Dextradeur, Hailey Pedersen, and Jacob Dextradeur.

Brian served proudly in the United States Air Force from 1956-1963 and received excellent care from the Veterans Administration. Brian spent his career as an electrical engineer with the Polaroid Corporation and received his chair from Northeastern University as a statistics professor. Brian was a life-long learner, as evidenced by the hundreds of books in his collection. After retirement Brian attended the University of Massachusetts in Dartmouth to continue his love of learning taking classes in philosophy and Italian. He was an avid golfer, had his pilot's license, loved to sail and passed on his passion for the ocean to his children. His daughters live on the ocean and his son is a Navy veteran. In his last years, Brian enjoyed reading and painting.

His Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 18th at 10 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. His family will receive guests from 9 - 10 AM prior to his service. Burial will be private.
