John Joseph Nee, born July 15, 1947 of South Boston and sadly passed away on February 10, 2023. Beloved husband of Barbara A Nee (DeSimone). Father of Suzanne Nee of South Boston, Christopher Nee and his wife Susan of Woburn MA, Matthew Nee and his wife Edda of Munich, Germany. Phillip Nee and his wife Toby of Tempe, Arizona. Devoted Nonno to Caden, Ciara, and Noah Nee. And step grandfather to Joseph and Anthony Miele. Lovingly survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Life-long friend of Billy Meyer of Quincy, Mass. and Bob Holscher of St Cloud, Minnesota.
Son of the late John V Nee and the late Claire Nee (Kinsela). Oldest of 6 children. Brother of Claire and Joseph Nee and the late James, Patricia (Capuzzo) and Helen Mary Nee. brother-in-law of the late Gerard Desimone of Buffalo, NY. Cherished brother-in-law and Friend of Richard DeSimone (Desi) and his wife Lynore of Boca Raton, FLA.
Visiting hours on Thursday, February 16th from 10am to 1pm at the Casper Funeral Home, 187 Dorchester Street in South Boston. Interment services are private.
John’s greatest joy in life was his family and especially spending time with his daughter Suzanne. They had a special bond. Sitting on a bench down the beach, drinking a Dunkin Donuts down the island or doing her music. Suzanne was Daddy’s Princess.
A life-long resident of South Boston. John graduated South Boson High School in 1965 lettering in football and basketball. Proud Veteran of the United States Marine Corp and veteran of the Vietnam War.
Retired Boston Firefighter Engine 7. John devoted his life to helping others, whether it was serving his country, serving the city of Boston or coaching youth basketball in South Boston. He was a friend of Bill W "One Day at a Time" for 35 years and touched many lives. He was as handy as they come around the house and was a perfectionist in his detail. There are many a home in Southie where you can still see John’s work. John loved to do his crossword puzzles and watch Old Classic Movies. He loved spending his birthday week down the Cape surrounded by his family.
