Ann M. (Doherty) Reardon of Medway passed away on Sunday, February 12 at age 93 after a long illness. She was the daughter of the late James and Ellen (Ellis) Doherty. She was the loving mother of Kathleen Hickey and Mary Jane Burke of Medway and Ted Reardon of Webster, and their spouses Paul Hickey, Roland Burke, and Milanka Reardon. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 62 years, Edward C. Reardon, and her dear sister, Carolyn (Doherty) Flaherty.
Perhaps Ann’s greatest joy was being the proud, devoted Nana of ten grandchildren: Kristin (Hickey) Babinski; Elizabeth (Hickey) Economo; Gregory Hickey; Kevin Hickey; Kate (Hickey) Bishop; Shannon (Burke) Vinton; Sallyann Burke; and Kristina, Juliann, and Andrew Reardon. She was the adoring Nana of twelve great-grandchildren: Allison, Emily, and Samantha Babinski; Jake and Owen Economo; Caroline and Giulia Hickey; Matthew and Molly Vinton; Ella Bishop; and Catalina and Leonardo Villa-Reardon.
Ann was a 1947 graduate of Jamaica Plain High School, where in her senior yearbook it was written: “Dark brown hair / And a twinkling eye / Ann turns many heads / And makes many sigh.” She later attended the Wyndham School in Boston, which was a secretarial school that taught a range of subjects including accounting and the arts for young women. Ann was a proud businesswoman and owned Reardon Insurance Agency in Medway for 45 years alongside her husband Ed.
She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Medway. She joined the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court St. Joseph, in 1950, and she was the longest living member at the time of her death. Later in life, Ann became an avid doll maker, skillfully molding and painting at least a hundred porcelain dolls by hand, and even sewed all of their clothing. She loved spending time with her family and friends at Hamilton Beach. She will long be remembered for the stories she told and the wonderful conversations she had with family and friends as well.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Joseph’s Church, 151 Village St. in Medway on Thursday, February 16 at 11am. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held earlier the same day starting at 9:30 am at Ginley-Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com).
