Patricia Anne (Ricci) Loiacono, a lifelong resident of Medford, passed away after a brief illness at home surrounded by her loving family on February 10, 2023. She was 80 years old.
Patricia is survived by her loving daughters and their families: Deborah Loiacono Vernava and her husband Frank Vernava, Jr. and grandsons Luca and Marco Vernava of Medford; Sheila Brown and her husband Ian Brown and grandsons Max and Jack Brown of New Zealand. She was the wife of the late Robert Abramo Loiacono for 19 years but a life long friend for over 60 years. She was the eldest daughter of the late Frederick and Marie (Cusack) Ricci. The sister of Sheila Maryanski, Diane Elwell, and Susan and her husband Richard Fougere of Arlington and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Patricia was a proud New Englander, enjoying the four seasons. She was a shop owner of Ophelia's in Medford which dealt in antique linens and collectibles. She worked as a floral designer at Gregory's Florist in Wakefield for many years. For over 25 years she was part of the Todd Farm community in Rowley, MA buying and selling textiles and antiques. Customers returned year after year to purchase her unique, sought after textile creations and floral arrangements. During that time she made many friends who cherished her friendship.
If you were blessed to be part of her private world, you would know that she was ahead of her times in many aspects of life. She knew the importance of sourcing food organically, sustainability, supporting local farmers, and making economic decisions to minimize negative impact within the world we live in. In her spare time you could always find her in her backyard organic garden, enjoying her love and knowledge of the birds and flowers, taking joy in nature itself. She took pride in caring for her family, cooking, preserving, and sewing throughout the years.
Above anything else her family came first. She loved unconditionally, a devoted, loving mother, nonna and friend. The wisdom she has passed down will continue her legacy. She leaves behind a void in all who knew and loved her. She was loved fiercely, never forgotten and forever in our hearts.
Funeral services will be privately held. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home of Medford.
Donations in Patricia's memory may be made to MSPCA-Angell.
