Magdalini (Antoniadis) Sotiropoulos, 83, passed away peacefully at Holy Trinity Nursing Home on Friday, February 10, 2023 after an illness.
She leaves 2 children; Mary Sotiropoulos of Worcester and George Sotiropoulos and his wife Susan Scanlon of Worcester, her brother Kyriazis Antoniadis of Hrisohorafa, Greece; 4 grandchildren, Nicholas, Connor, Magdalena and Christina and her great-grandson, Samuel Campoverde; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters and a brother.
She was born in Hrisohorafa, Greece, the daughter of Athanasios and Rodi (Dimopoulos) Antoniadis. The family immigrated to the United States in February of 1978, 3 days prior to the historic '78 blizzard.
Magdalini worked for many years at the former Worcester City Hospital and then for UMass Hospital. Her hands were rarely still. She loved to cook, was highly skilled at knitting, crocheting and sewing, and had a passion for gardening. Her heart and soul were happiest when in the presence of her grandchildren and great-grandson. She was front and center at all of their Greek dances and spent many hours on the sidelines cheering them on during various sporting events. Forever our "Yiayia", we will miss you.
Friends and family will honor Magdalini by gathering on Friday, February 17th for a calling hour at St. Spyridon Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russel Street, Worcester from 10 - 11 a.m. followed by her funeral service at 11 a.m. in the cathedral. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you consider a donation to St. Spyridon in her memory. Arrangements are under the direction of O'Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester.
