Jean A. Mattson, 91, of Oxnard, California, peacefully passed away on February 7th in her home of 68 years. Jean was born in South Ozone Park, Queens, New York to Wallace and Marie Swan on September 27, 1931. She went to Burbank and John Burroughs High Schools and graduated in1949. She moved to Ventura upon marriage to the love of her life, Donald Mattson, in 1950.
She was very involved with PTA. President at both Rio Plaza and Rio del Valle schools, she was fundamental in getting libraries into each of the Rio schools. She went on to become 12th District(Ventura County) President and worked at the state level of PTA with then Governor Reagan. Following that, she was elected to the Rio School District board and served the children of El Rio for 25 years.
Jean is survived by her sons Chris and wife, Renee of Bakersfield, Craig and wife, Suzy of McCloud, and daughter Karen of Oxnard. She is also survived by six grandchildren-Eric, Tyler, Trevor, Taylor, Thomas, and Laura, and 6 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Don and her parents.

Funeral services will be held at Ivy Lawn Cemetery on February 24 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Thomas Mattson officiating.
