Leon “Sonny” P. Bertone, 90, of Franklin died peacefully February 8th at the Countryside Healthcare of Milford. He was an honorably discharged veteran of the Korean War. He was the husband of his beloved late Priscilla (Michetti) Bertone who died in 2001.
Born in Franklin, August 18, 1932, the son of the late Joseph and Antoinette (Pisani) Bertone, Sonny was a lifelong Franklin resident.
A graduate of Franklin High School he had been employed as a Machine Assembler for the Bird Johnson Company for many years.
Sonny enjoyed deep sea fishing, playing cards, traveling and was a devoted family man.
Sonny is survived by his children, Peter Bertone and his wife Nancy of Plainville, Paul Bertone and his wife Jayne of Franklin, John Bertone and his wife Kirsteen of Franklin and Amy Lane and her husband Sean of Bellingham.
He is also survived by siblings Phyllis Daigle of Bellingham, Joseph Bertone of Franklin and Robert Bertone and his wife MaryAnn of Franklin. And predeceased by his brother-in-law Gerard "Red" Daigle and sister-in-law Frances "Franny" Bertone.
He is also survived by his 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren and his many lifelong friends and neighbors in Franklin.
His funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 14 at St. Mary’s Church at 10:00 a.m. Burial with full military honors will follow in the parish cemetery.
