J. Zereta Sirmans Alsobrook, 92, of Tifton passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at the Rehabilitation Center of South Georgia in Tifton. Her funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, February 12, 2023, at the Tifton Progressive Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Craig DeLoach officiating. Mrs. Alsobrook will be laid to rest at Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 11, 2023, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mrs. Alsobrookâs grandsons, Jerry Hayes, Robby Drawdy, Chanel Houle, Stephen Drawdy, Jimmy Hunter and Matt Brillhart will serve as pallbearers.
Born March 10, 1930, in Ocilla, Mrs. Alsobrook was the daughter of the late George W. Sirmans and Eunie Whitley Sirmans. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Stephen M. Alsobrook; three brothers, George W. Sirmans, Leon Sirmans and Kenneth Sirmans; and one sister, Zelma Hargett. Before retiring, she worked at H. V. Kell Company until it closed; worked as a secretary for C.I.T. Financial Company; and as a secretary for the First United Methodist Church.
She was a very active member of the Tifton Progressive Primitive Baptist Church for 59 years. She sewed for years; made Cabbage Patch dolls; loved working on puzzles; and reading. She also typed genealogy books for R.H. McMillan and took motorcycle trips with her husband and traveled across county after they both were retired.
Mrs. Alsobrook is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Ellen Alsobrook of Tifton; three daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Bobby Drawdy of Omega, Judy and Felton Hayes of Brookfield and Brenda and Jim Hunter of Arizona; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren; and lots of nieces and nephews. She is also survived by one sister, Mary Bruce of Rutledge; one sister-in-law, Sue Talley Sirmans of Chula; and one brother-in-law and his wife, Martin C. and Sandra Alsobrook of Prescott Valley, Arizona.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Rehabilitation Center of South Georgia for their love and care of Mrs. Alsobrook.
