CHICOPEE – Ronald E. “Ronnie” Gough, 86, of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Wednesday, February 8, 2023. He passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Landville, West Virginia on January 18, 1937, a beloved son of the late Carter M. Gough and Lillie E. (Mounts) Gough Dearth. He lived in Chicopee and moved to Cape Cod before returning to Chicopee where he lived at a wonderful group home run by the Western Massachusetts Training Consortium. He was employed at the Officers’ Club at Westover Air Force Base in Chicopee where he was highly regarded and received the “Outstanding Employee Award” for his dedication and excellent service. He was a proud member of the Chicopee River Watershed and attended the Baroco Adult Day Program in Springfield. He was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and his many friends. He leaves his loving and devoted sisters, Betty L. Shrewsbury and her husband, Ralph, of Chicopee and Margaret L. Hollinger of Naples, FL; his five dear nieces, Mary Koehler, Kathy Landry, Sue Abad and her husband, David, Kelly Krasinkiewicz and her husband, Mike, and Karen Dent and her husband, Rodney; his three dear nephews, Joe Shrewsbury and his wife, Darlene, Mark Shrewsbury and Will Hollinger and his wife, Amber; and his many cherished grandnephews, grandnieces, great grandnephews, great grandnieces, cousins, friends and extended family members. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother-in-law, William Hollinger. His funeral will be held on Monday, February 13, 2023 beginning at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 594 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, February 13, 2023 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. prior to his Mass. The parking lot and main entrance of the funeral home are located in the rear at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
