Maddalena Taranto, 85 of Somerville, died Friday in the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. Born in Palermo, Sicily, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Salvatore and the late Domenica Caminita. Mrs. Taranto died suddenly. She has been a Somerville resident for over forty-five years. She came to this country in 1956 from Sicily, Italy. Mrs. Taranto was very devoted to her family and to her church. She was a parishioner of St. Ann´s Church for many years. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Maddalena´s memory to the Jeanne Jugan Residence, Little Sisters of the Poor, 186 Highland Ave, Somerville, MA 02143
Mrs. Taranto was the beloved wife of the late Vincenzo and is survived by her children, Theresa Colozzo and her husband Cosmo of Medford, Donna DeSimone and her husband John of Somerville, Anthony and his wife Lillian of CA, Lucy Russo and her husband Enzo of Malden, Sal and his wife Mary Ann of Charlestown. She is also survived by eleven loving grandchildren and seven loving great grandchildren. Sister of Pauline Carcia of Medford, Laura Beninati of Stoneham, the late Josephine Ruisi, Guy Caminita, Lucy Eracleo and Anna Stecich. Funeral from the Jeanne Jugan Residence, 186 Highland Ave, Somerville,Tuesday, at 9 AM. Followed by a funeral mass celebrated in the Jeanne Jugan Residence Chapel at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Monday 4 thru 8 at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St. Medford. Services will conclude with burial at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
