Obituary

Rupert L. Engerman age 94 of Middleboro, formerly of Brockton, died February 6, 2023 at the Morton Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was the devoted husband of Wilma (Jones) Engerman for 45 years. Rupert was born and raised in Boston, a son of the late Isaiah and Gertrude (Williams) Engermann. Following his high school graduation, he served in the US Merchant Marines during WWII.

For over 40 years, Rupert worked as a dietary supervisor at the Brockton VA Hospital. He then worked at the Raynham Dog Track selling tickets, working on the wait staff at the Taunton Dog Trach and running his own stand at the Brockton Fairgrounds.

In his younger years, Rupert enjoyed playing golf and tennis, watching sports on television, playing cards and trips to the casino. His family said that you couldn’t find a better man than Rupert, he was always there for his family.

Rupert was the father of Gail Engerman of Arizona, Stacey McCarthy of New York, Michel Correia of New Jersey, Cathy Waitt of Middleboro, Richard Correia of Brockton, Joan Corrieia of Brockton, Isaiah Engerman of Fall River, son-in-law Mark Waitt of Halifax and her late daughter Paula Engerman. Rupert was also the brother of Lee Neal of Connecticut, James Engermann of Raynham and the late Val Engermann, Elvia Montgomery, Grace Pina, Rick Engermann, Floretta Engermann and Viola James. In addition, he leaves 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren and a host of family and friends.

Visitation will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (rte. 123), Brockton on Friday February 10, 2023 from 3-6 followed by a Celebration of his Life at 6pm in the funeral home.
