Lorraine C. (Soares) Rodrigues, age 84, of North Dartmouth, MA passed away peacefully at home on January 2, 2023 after a long illness, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Edwin V. Rodrigues for nearly 65 years.
Lorrie was the daughter of the late Joseph and Agnes (Cardoza) Soares and sister of the late Priscilla Viveiros. She was a graduate of New Bedford High School where she met her husband, Ed. They worked together in the family business, Rodrigues & Son Jewelers for many years. Lorrie then worked for Bromley Jewelers, a job she loved with a boss who became her lifelong friend, until her retirement.
Lorrie was a people person, loved by all who knew or met her. She had an infectious laugh, a smile that lit up the room and a mischievous twinkle in her eye. Lorrie enjoyed traveling with her husband, singing and dancing, and many happy adventures with friends in MA and Florida. Her special gift was the joy she brought to others with her beautiful heart and kind spirit. She devoted her life to her greatest love, her family. Her joy was being a loving wife, wonderful mother and most of all, Vovie, to the cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren who adored her. She was their "Sunshine" and Ed's "Everything".
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her two daughters and two "sons"; Valerie Gwozdz and her husband Kevin, Gina Kiser and her husband James; her beloved grandchildren Meghan McCarthy and her husband Michael, Ryan Gwozdz and his wife Lindsey, Nathan Gwozdz, Ian Kiser and his wife Lauren, Kevin Kiser, Lauren Kiser, and treasured great-grandchildren Christian, Logan, Finn, Brynlee and Grant. She is also survived by many Godchildren, nieces, nephews and a lifetime of friends who were her extended family.
Lorraine's family would like to extend their sincerest appreciation and gratitude for the loving care and dedication provided by the hospice staff and private caregivers to their beautiful mother and Ed's beloved wife. You are truly angels.
Her Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2023 at St. Julie's Billiart Church in Dartmouth at 10:00 A.M. Attendees are kindly asked to meet directly at the Church.
