WEST BALDWIN- Phyllis (Clark) Schroeder, 93 passed away peacefully on Thursday Feb. 2nd, 2023, in her home in West Baldwin where she had lived for over 70 years. Phyllis will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother and aunt and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Born on April 20, 1929 in Westbrook Maine, she was the wife of Bernard W. Schroeder and the daughter of Wilbur Clark Sr. and Esmeralda Clark.
She graduated from Westbrook High School class of 1947, married Bernard on May 17th 1948 and moved to West Baldwin to begin their married life raising their 3 children.
Phyllis spent many years working for the US Postal Service. She began her career delivering mail in West Baldwin and later became the Postmaster at East Baldwin Post Office.
Phyllis was involved with many organizations in the community over the years including Grange, Baldwin Historical Society, 50+Club, Christmas Club & East Baldwin Library. She was especially proud of her time served on Standish Volunteer in Police Service and her 60+ years serving many positions in the West Baldwin United Methodist Church.
Phyllis was predeceased by her husband Bernard; sons Bruce and Glenn; grandson Keith; brothers; Floyd, Richard, Wilbur Jr, Roland, Clinton, Warren and sister Carol.
Phyllis is survived by her daughter Brenda Farrington of West Baldwin: daughter –in-laws Valerie Schroeder of West Baldwin and Darlene Schroeder of Salem, MA: grandchildren Russell Schroeder, Victoria Day, Eric Schroeder Sr, Adam Schroeder, Denise Dicesare, Megan Schroeder, Shane Farrington, Kyle Farrington, Cierra Farrington and Burton Withey: and 16 great grandchildren & 3 great-great grandchild. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday Feb. 16 from 4 – 6 PM, followed by a 6 PM service at the Poitras, Neal & York Funeral Home, 71 Maple St., Cornish. Burial will be in the spring at the Old West Baldwin Cemetery. Online condolence messages can be submitted at www.mainefuneral.com
