FALL RIVER… Michael R. Dobyna, 73, of Fall River, formerly of New Bedford, passed away February 3, 2023, at Catholic Memorial Home following a courageous battle with Muscular Dystrophy.
Born and raised in New Bedford, he was a son of the late Matthew and Statia (Ruscik) Dobyna.
Michael prided himself on his education. He was a 1967 graduate of New Bedford High School and went on to the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth where he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1971.
He worked for several years as an alarm monitor. He was an avid New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox fan and enjoyed browsing the web and playing games on his computer. Above all else, he loved spending time with his family.
Survivors include his sister Patricia Leclerc and her husband Roger of Westport; his brothers: Mark Dobyna of Fall River and John Dobyna and his wife Debra of Tucson, AZ; his nieces and nephews: Andrea Lucas (husband Jon-Paul), Michelle Nielson (husband Matthew), Bethany Gavin (husband James), Christopher Dobyna, John Dobyna, Jr., Kirby Dobyna, Roslyn Dobyna and Megan Dobyna; and his great nieces and nephews: Julia, Lauren, Cameron, Owen, Katherine, Thomas and Matthew.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at 12 noon at Boyko Memorial Funeral Home, 709 Broadway Fall River, MA 02724 followed by interment in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River. Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 10 AM to 12 noon, prior to the funeral.
