Roger E. Lavoie, 90, formerly of Salem, passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at the Jeffrey and Susan Brudnick Center for Living in Peabody following a brief illness.
Born and raised in Salem, he was the son of the late Ernest and Laura (Marquis) Lavoie. Roger worked as a truck driver for Essex Office Associates of Salem, and later worked in the maintenance department for Salem and Beverly Hospitals. Roger’s favorite job was as an assistant, sacristan, maintenance man and just about anything that needed to be done man at Ste. Anne Parish. He was a devout parishioner as well as helper at the church’s fund raisers and celebrations. Roger was a kind hearted and deeply religious person. He was also a prolific artist, lover of classical music and really enjoyed watching football. He will be missed by many.
He is survived by his sisters, Lucille Boulanger of Sherbrook, Canada, Marguerite Belanger and her husband Rene of Peabody and Marie Williams of Newburyport, in addition to many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brothers, Gerard and Raymond Lavoie.
Relatives and friends are invited to his visiting hours on Friday, February 3, 2023 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Route 114 / 1-A] Salem. His Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, February 4th at 11:00 AM at Ste. Anne Church, 290 Jefferson Ave., Salem. Facial masks are encouraged. Burial, at a later date will, be private.
