Obituary

Beverly - Weldon H. Osborne, 84, husband of Rita H. (Marquis) Osborne, of Beverly, formerly of Salem, died Thursday, June 1, 2006 at the Twin Oaks Nursing Home, Danvers, following a brief illness.

Born and raised in Salem, he was the son of the late Percy W. and Emeilline “Mary” (Williams) Osborne.

Mr Osborne was a Navy veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict. During WWII, he served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater and attained the rating of Pharmacist’s Mate Second Class. He was honorably discharged in 1945. During the Korean Conflict, he once again enlisted and served until his discharge in 1953 as a Hospital Corpsman Second Class.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a social worker at the Danvers State Hospital, retiring in 1984. He was previously employed for over 25 years at Almy’s Department Store in Salem.

A resident of Beverly for most of his life, he was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Salem. He enjoyed reading and golf.

Besides his wife, with whom he shared over 50 years of marriage, he is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Paul & Rhonda Osborne of Lady Lake, FL, David & Debbie Osborne of Winthrop, Steven & Robbie Osborne of Peabody, Michael & Mary Osborne of Beverly, one daughter and son-in-law, Neila & John Griffith of Middleton, 12 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late George E. Osborne.

His funeral service will be held Monday, June 5, 2006 at 11 am at the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem. A visitation will be on Monday prior to the service, from 10 to 11 am. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Burial is in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem.
