Obituary

Michael Phillip Pope passed away peacefully with his family on January 20, 2023 at the Brockton VA Hospital from complications arising from cancer. He was cared for by the competent and compassionate medical, nursing, and support staff of the Building 4 Roosevelt wing.

Born July 2, 1950 in Columbus Georgia, Michael was the first son of Barbara and Raymond Pope. In 1962 he moved to Stoughton, MA where he became a Stoughton High School class of 1968 graduate. Michael went on to join the army in 1971. He served for six years before retiring as a sergeant. After completing his service, Michael began a long career in security for the John Hancock Tower.

Michael loved his family very much. He is predeceased by his parents, Barbara and Raymond, his brother John, and by the love of his life, Karyn McCann Pope. Married in 1975, Karyn was the light in his eye, the sun, the moon, and the stars. He was a loving and loyal husband who devoted himself to her care in sickness and in health. Uncle Mike was also a beloved uncle. Funny and kind, he loved his nieces and nephews unconditionally and left lasting impressions on their lives.

Michael is survived by his sister Catherine Staff and his nieces and nephews, Sarah and Brian McCann, and Allison and Jeffrey Staff.

A graveside service will be held at the Mass National Cemetery, Bourne on Thursday, March 9 at 1:15P.M..
