Gerald J. Nye, 81, of Auburn, NH, passed away Sunday, January 29, 2023 at Elliot Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born on April 2, 1941 in Manchester, a son of the late George Nye, Jr. and Josephine (Kula) Nye, and had been a resident of Auburn his entire life. Jerry attended the Severance School in Auburn and attended Central High School in Manchester.
Jerry was employed as a heavy equipment operator and was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers for 40 years and retired from the Union in 2003. Jerry enjoyed working around his yard, watching sports, feeding and watching the birds, and most recently, listening to audio books.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Verna (Anderson) Nye of Auburn; his son, Bradley A. Nye of Show Low, AZ; his daughter, Karen L. McCallister of Auburn; his granddaughter, Megan Bickford and her spouse Allison Bickford of Manchester; his great grandson, Wilder Bickford of Manchester; as well as his sister, Nancy Rainville and her spouse Phil Rainville of Auburn.
Following cremation, Jerry will be buried in the Auburn Village Cemetery this Spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pulmonary Hypertension Association, 8401 Colesville Road, Suite 200, Silver Spring, MD 20910. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry is assisting the family with arrangements.
