Fanny Wells, 91

Dateline: Raynham, MA

Fanny (Haley) Wells, age 91, of Raynham, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at the Life Care Center of Raynham. She was the beloved wife of the late Milton H. Wells, to whom she was wed for forty-nine years at the time of his death on December 18, 2001.

Born in Somerville, Massachusetts on April 23, 1931, she was a loving daughter of the late William and Fanny (Coutts) Haley.

At the tender age of three weeks old, Fanny’s family moved to England where she grew up, was educated and remained till she was seventeen. In 1947, she returned to the United States and settled back in Somerville. Her first job in the United States was at the Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company from 1947-1956.

After marrying Milton and starting a family, Fanny returned to the work field and was employed as a secretary at the Foxboro Company. For the past thirty-five years she made her home in Raynham and for over twenty years was the go-to person for the Pinehill Estate Newsletter. Fanny was a familiar face and well-known amongst her friends at Pinehill Estate. She had previously resided in Mansfield for twenty years.

Fanny attended His Providence Church in Swansea and throughout the years sang in many church choirs and also taught Sunday School. Her family was always the centerpiece of her life and she especially loved being a big part of her grandchildren’s lives. Fanny’s hobbies included quilting, gardening and she’ll always be remembered for her remarkable cooking skills and an eagerness for learning and trying new recipe’s.

She is survived by her loving and devoted children: Linda S. Bradshaw and her husband William of Dighton and David A. Wells of Raynham. She was the cherished and adoring grandmother of Joy Bradshaw and Will Bradshaw.


Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, February 6th from 10:00 A.M.- 12:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp Street (Off Route 140, Taunton Avenue) Norton.

A funeral service will be held at the conclusion of visitation on Monday at 12:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the West Dighton Christian Church Cemetery in North Dighton.
