Vickie Marie Jones of Needham died on Mother’s Day, May 14th, after a year-long battle with cancer. Vickie was fifty three.
She was born in Quincy, the youngest of five children, to Mae Consalvi, currently of Newton, and the late Armand Consalvi. She graduated from North Quincy High School, and at 19 married Robert Jones. The newlyweds moved to Needham, where they enjoyed 34 years of marriage, and Robert still lives. Robert and Vickie raised two sons, Christopher of Albany, NY, and Peter, who now lives in Minneapolis, MN, with his wife Alice and their daughter Grace. She is the sister of Richard Consalvi of Pembroke, Carol Consalvi of Eustis FL, David Consalvi of Mashpee and Marcia Dederian of Newton.
Vickie pursued numerous occupations throughout her life, including sales of technical devices, floral design, jewelry consultation, fine art sales, facial care, reiki practice, and most recently and significantly, yoga instruction. Vickie received training from the Kripalu Center for Yoga and was certified as a professional level yoga practitioner. In nearly a decade of yoga instruction, Vickie found meaningful friendships, a successful business venture, and deep personal satisfaction.
Vickie was beloved by and devoted to her immediate and extended family and will be missed by friends and students as well. She will be remembered as a nurturing, warm-hearted person with an infectious giggle and a beautiful, welcoming smile.
Her life will be celebrated at the First Parish Unitarian Universalist in Needham on Friday, June 9th at 1:00 PM. Church directions available at www.UUNeedham.org.
