Robert D. Corey, age 89, of Brockton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 22, 2023, at St. Joseph Manor.
Born and raised in Brockton, he was the son of the late Raymond and Wilhelmina (Salamie) Corey.
Robert was a graduate of Brockton High School and earned a bachelor’s degree from Emerson College and a master’s degree from University of Chicago. He was a teacher at Braintree High School for thirty-seven years before retiring. After retiring, he continued to teach at the Adult Learning Center in Brockton.
Bob was passionate about teaching both high school students and adults. He often travelled the world with the Alumni groups from the University of Chicago. He had affection for theater and he often directed films at Braintree High School with students in the theater club. He loved nature and wildlife, especially birds, had a deep appreciation for art and museums, reading, and spending his summers in Truro, Cape Cod.
Mr. Corey is survived by his niece Donna Umlauf and her husband Kevin of Bellingham; a sister in law, Laurel Corey and her companion Jim McDonough of Braintree, great niece Corey Umlauf of NY and great niece, Erin Umlauf, of NJ. He was the brother of the late Edmund Corey and uncle of the late Robert Corey.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Robert’s family on Friday, January 27, 2023 from 9:30 am to 11:00 am, with a funeral service beginning at 11:00am, in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte. 123) Brockton. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Brockton.
