LIMERICK- Marilee E. Thorne, 76, of Brookside Lane, Limerick died unexpectedly at her home on January 18, 2023. Born on April 27, 1946 in Saco, Maine she was the eldest daughter of Fred and Elinor Lane. Marilee was educated in Limerick schools and graduated from Limerick High School in 1964, and served briefly in the United States Air Force following graduation.
Marilee met and married Lawrence Curtis whom they shared three sons together, Terrill, David, and William. Following their divorce she married Russell Gilpatrick, raising a fourth son, Michael. Following Russell’s (Stub) death Marilee met and married Clifford Thorne, whom she shared the last 27 years together.
She worked at the Limerick Shoe Shop for several years followed by the Limerick Heel Factory. Marilee also worked at Maine Medical Center for a time, as well as in home healthcare, but most of her time was shared with family and friends.
Marilee enjoyed reading books, especially Grace Livingston Hill, Zane Grey, and other western authors. Reading fed her vivid imagination and inspired her poetry.
Marilee is predeceased by her parents and her son William Curtis of Bellevill, Illinois. Marilee is survived by her husband Clifford, sons Terrill Curtis of Pueblo, Colorado; David Curtis of Bartelso, Illinois, and Michael Gilpatrick of Limerick, Maine, her sisters Marilyn Brower of Lisbon, Maine, Joanne Meserve, Kathleen Hill, and Eva Lane all of Limerick, Maine, two brothers Paul and George Lane, also of Limerick, Maine. Marilee has six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed.
Celebration of life and services will be held in the spring.
