Robert T. Mazzarella “Bob”, age 80, of Stoneham, and formerly of Winchester, passed away on Jan 19, 2023. He was the loving son of the late John F. Mazzarella & Marie E. (Incinelli) Mazzarella. Bob was raised in Jamaica Plain, yet in the end, moved to Winchester to be near family and graduated from Winchester High School in 1959. He then enlisted and served in the National Guard over a course of 6 years.
Bob was the beloved husband of Maryjane (Lambiase) Mazzarella with whom he shared 55 years of marriage. He was the dear father of Richard Mazzarella of North Reading, Anita Mazzarella of Stoneham, and the proud “Papa” of Lauren Elisabeth Mazzarella.
Bob was the last of four brothers: John F. Mazzarella II and his wife Beverly Ann, Ralph W. Mazzarella his wife Barbara Ann and William J. Mazzarella and his wife Eileen. He was also the loving Uncle to five nieces and four nephews.
Bob shared many adventures throughout his life with family - most notably, a Bermuda cruise with Maryjane, a trip to visit family in California with Richard, a vacation to Las Vegas & various day trips with Anita. He was a “people-person” who enjoyed meeting up with his guy friends at the Causeway and visiting with family to catch up and reminisce about the old days. He would often spend time with Maryjane at Horn Pond to people-watch and take in the scenery. He was well-known for telling stories and sharing past memories, especially those involving his cherished family. Bob had a passion for the Boston Red Sox, his many baseball hats as well as cars. He would wear his Red Sox hat proudly and enjoyed watching various car shows, such as “Counting Cars” and “Jay Leno’s Garage”. At other times he could also be found watching some of his additional favorite shows, which included “Gold Rush” and “American Pickers”. Most times Bob would be stylishly wearing his flannel shirts and favored "Old Guys Rule" t-shirts.
Most of all, Bob will be remembered as a wonderful and caring man who was always one to lend a hand. He was dedicated to his family and always kept pictures of them close by (in his wallet). And we would be remiss to not mention the soft spot in his heart for his little kitty buddy “Tabitha”, who had him wrapped around her paw.
We will never forget how thoughtful & gentle Bob was and how he’d always part ways with the words "Be careful". He will be fondly remembered & forever missed.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather for a Visiting Hour at Costello Funeral Home, 177 Washington St., Winchester, on Tuesday, January 24 from 11am-12noon. A Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home at 12 noon. Burial will be private. Please, no flowers. If desired, to keep Bob's love of animals alive, especially the special bond he held with Tabitha, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, to please make a donation in his memory to PAWS Wakefield. https://pawswakefield.rescuegroups.org
