Marcel J. Ledoux, 92, of New Bedford passed away Thursday January 19, 2023. He was the husband of the late Josephine (Bollea) Ledoux.
Born and raised in Fall River, the son of the late Albert H. and Louise (Lafleur) Ledoux, he lived in New Bedford for most of his life.
Marcel was formerly employed as a police lieutenant for the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth Police Department. In his retirement, he worked at Giammalvo’s Market.
During the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Navy.
An avid sports fan, he followed all of the Boston sports teams. He enjoyed bowling and had played in the Giusti Bakery Bowling League. He had been a member of the Italian Literary and Mutual Aid Society for many years. He deeply loved his grandsons, and never missed any of their school events or sporting events. He was particularly ecstatic over the recent birth of his great-grandson, Tom III.

He is survived by his sons, Thomas J. Ledoux and his wife Rosemary and Mark C. Ledoux, all of New Bedford; his siblings, George Ledoux and Vivian Chagnon; his grandsons, Thomas J. Ledoux, Jr. and his wife Courtney, Alex Ledoux and his companion Jamie Keller, and Roger Ledoux; his great-grandson, Thomas J. Ledoux III; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother, Roger Ledoux.
His funeral will be held on Tuesday January 24th at 8 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by his Funeral Mass at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church at 9 AM. Visiting hours will be held on Monday January 23rd from 4-7 PM. A private burial will be held in St. Mary’s Cemetery at a later date.
