Pierre Massoyan, 87, of Pleasant View Avenue, Smithfield, formerly of North Providence, died Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at Cherry Hill Manor in Johnston. He was the husband of Gloria F. (Petteruto) Massoyan. They had been married for 62 years.
Born in Marseille, France, he was the son of the late Avedis and Zartar (Vartian) Massoyan. He had lived in Smithfield since 2015 and had previously lived in North Providence.
Pierre was the owner of Pierre’s Barber Shop in Central Falls before retiring in 2005. Pierre was a member of the Smithfield Senior Center, Bocce League. and had been a semi-professional soccer player in Marseille France.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his son, John Massoyan and his wife, Dianne of Smithfield and his daughter, Linda Davey and her husband, Frank of Smithfield, his five grandchildren: Frank Jr., Andrew, Lucas, Matthew, and Emma and two sisters, Juliette Barbet of North Providence and Marguerite Pate of Cranston.
His funeral will be held Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at 9am from Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Rt 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Mass at 10am in Saints Sahag & Mesrob, 70 Jefferson Street, Providence. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston. Visitation will be Monday, January 23, 2023, 4-7pm. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to Leukemia and Lymphoma Society
