James V., Marano Sr., age 90 of Canton, passed away January 16, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband of the late Beverly M. Marano (Falcione), son of the late Alfred Marano and Mary Roveto, and brother of Freddie Marano, Jim was born and raised in Saugus. For over 30 years, he and Beverly resided in Weymouth where they raised their 3 boys, Jimmy, Chris and Marc.
Jim was a standout high school football player and member of the Saugus High School Football Hall of Fame. He continued his football career at Southern Illinois University where he received a bachelor’s degree in business management. Jim also served 2 years in the United States Army during the Korean War. Jim started his career at Raytheon Technologies and then spent 35 years at Murata Electronics where he managed the Northeast Regional Sales Team. Jim’s true passion was his family, attending every event in which his children and then grandchildren were involved, all while caring for his loving wife Beverly.
Jim is survived by his sons, James V. Marano, Jr. and his wife Jacquelyn of Canton, Christopher O. Marano and his wife Arlene of Canton, and Marc A. Marano and his wife Tracey of Concord as well as his grandchildren, Stephanie and her husband Alex, Katherine and her husband Mike, Elizabeth, Christopher, Caroline, Emily, Madelyn, Michael and Abigail as well as his great grandchildren Reagan and Jimmy. Jim will be missed by his loving family and friends.
Visiting hours will be at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home, 455 Washington Street, Canton, MA Saturday, January 21 from 10-12. Funeral Mass will be at St Oscar Romero Parish (formerly St. John the Evangelist Church), 700 Washington Street, Canton, MA Saturday, January 21 at 12:30. Burial will be at Canton Corner Cemetery.
