WORCESTER_ Aurore M. Labbee, 102, of Worcester, passed away on January 14, 2023 in Christopher House, where she has resided since March 2021. Aurore was born in Worcester to Joseph Brodeur and Cora (Lavigne) Brodeur. She attended Worcester schools and for many years worked at Pfeiffer Shoe in its’ finishing room as a floor supervisor. In June, 1941, she married Arthur J. Labbee and they shared 65 years together until his death in 2006. Upon her husband’s death, Aurore forged an independent life, managing the household tasks, driving herself around (until age 92), and joining a church knitting group in which until COVID, she faithfully participated enjoying the friendship of fellow knitters.
Aside from her husband, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Roland Brodeur and Valmore Brodeur. Our Auntie leaves to mourn her passing her niece, Susan Handy of Connecticut, her nephews, Donald Brodeur (Liz) of California and Paul Brodeur (Natalie) of Washington her great nephews, Cameron, Justin, Austin and Nicholas, her great niece, Claire, great-great nephew, Niko and great nieces, Ava and Delila and her niece, Suzanne LaPerle and family. Additionally, she leaves behind her knitting group, her wonderful and caring neighbors, Linda and David Harris and her trusty handyman Ricky Minkema.
The family would like to thank the staff at Christopher House for her care these past many months.
A Catholic Memorial Mass will be held at a later date in St. Joseph Church at Holy Family Parish. Burial will be Private. DIRSA-MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 298 Grafton St. has care of arrangements.
