Robert Peter Kokoll passed away peacefully, on January 12, 2023, at his home in Standish, Maine. He was born on May 7, 1952, and grew up in Spring Lake Heights, New Jersey. He leaves his only son Christopher Katahdin Kokoll, his previous wife Kristin Uhlig, his cherished friend Mimi Davis, his brothers Tony and Kenny and his sister Marcia, many cousins, and seven nieces and nephews.
After high school graduation, Peter joined the army and was stationed in Germany. Upon return to his home in New Jersey, he sought a more natural environment to enjoy the outdoors. He moved to Maine.
In 1981, Peter met Kristin with whom he had many adventures. Together they went backpacking in Montana, and British Columbia. They frequently hiked and skied in New Hampshire and Maine and even slept on mountain summits. Eventually, their adventures led them to clearing land and building a house together in Gorham, Maine.
Carpentry then became Peter's passion. He developed his skill in woodworking and became able to add creative, unique design to work and home projects. That passion led to starting his own carpentry and painting business, which he continued until his last days.
Peter is well remembered for his love of jokes. He loved creating jokes, laughing at his own jokes, and making others laugh. When he started a story, we all knew it would end in a joke.
Peter also loved helping others. He was generous to all, whether he knew them, or was simply passing them on the street. He truly tried to live a life in Christ's path.
In his later years, Peter prioritized spiritual growth and community in his life. He became a devoted member of the Living Waters Christian church in Buxton. There he regularly participated in Bible studies and was central to the Men's Ministry, church work parties and the Goodness Squad (a name Peter coined) that assists members of the congregation and community who need a helping hand. He took particular pride in cooking pancakes for the combined Men's Ministry and Women's Ministry breakfasts...almost fulfilling his dream of opening his own pancake house.
