Kathleen R. “Cal” “Nannie” (Walsh) Cavanaugh, age 101, a resident of Tewksbury for 20 years, formally of Reading, passed away at the Winchester Hospital on Thursday, January 12, 2023, surrounded by her family.
She was the beloved wife of James J. Cavanaugh, who passed away September 4, 2008.
Born in Boston on September 3, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Thomas F. Walsh and the late Frances E. (Tambeau) Walsh.
She was raised in the Roslindale area of Boston until moving to Reading.
Kathleen attended Reading schools and graduated from Reading High School.
Following their wedding on November 15, 1941, she devoted her life to her husband and raising their three children.
Kathleen treasured every moment spending time with her family. In addition, she enjoyed puzzles, word games, sewing, flower gardening and caring for her house plants.
She is survived by her children, James J. Cavanaugh, II and his wife Gail, of Hampton Falls, NH, Thomas F. Cavanaugh and his wife Katie, of Tewksbury, and David M. Cavanaugh and his wife Maureen, of Bradford: eight grandchildren, Gail Cavanaugh, Kelly Maloney, Sharon Scialdone, Scott Cavanaugh, Kristina Cavanaugh, Meaghan Cavanaugh, Colleen Jean, and Gregory Cavanaugh: her seventeen great grandchildren, Kaitlin, Connor, Aedan, Kavan, Brendan, Shane, Shea, Shawna, Cassidy, Drew, Riley, Ryan, Avery, Jacob, Heather, Declan, and McKenna: two great great grandchildren, Frances and Anastasia. She was the sister of the late Thomas Walsh and Marie Marty.
Family and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass to be celebrated Wednesday, January 18th, at 11:30 a.m.at St. Williams’ Church, 1351 Main Street, Route 38, Tewksbury. Interment to follow at Tewksbury Cemetery. In keeping with Kathleen’s wishes, there are No Calling Hours.
