Rene A. Labrecque, 80, of Haverhill, MA passed away peacefully on Tuesday with his daughters at his side. He had lived in Ephrata, PA for 30 years before moving to Haverhill several years ago.
Rene was born in Lawrence, MA where he grew up and was educated. He entered the US Navy at 17 and served as a gunner during WW II on a ship carrying supplies to the Russian port of Murmansk. He worked for the school department in PA prior to retiring.
He was a member of VFW Post #8546 of Salem, NH and the Paul Revere Masonic Lodge in Brockton, MA. As a young man, Rene played semi-pro football. He was an avid golfer and had a beautiful singing voice performing in many benefit shows in NH and PA. He loved his family and was very proud of all his grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his son Robert Labrecque and his wife Dorothy “Jackie” (Murphy) Labrecque.

Private funeral services will be held for the family. Arrangements are by the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem, NH.
