Devoted Wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister
TEWKSBURY: Lillian (Gesser) Roberts, age 92, a resident of Tewksbury for 15 years, formally of Golden, Colorado and Mishicot, Wisconsin, passed away in the care of her family and hospice on Friday, January 13, 2023.
She was the beloved wife of John M. Roberts, who passed away on June 24, 2017.
Born in Mishicot, Wisconsin on March 17, 1930, she was one of three children of the late Joseph Gesser and the late Lucille (Hallada) Gesser.
Lillian was raised on her family’s dairy farm in Mischicot, WI and attended the local one room schoolhouse.
In 1950, she married her late husband and later moved to Golden, Colorado, where they resided for 50 years until moving to Tewksbury in 2008.
Lillian enjoyed polka music, square dancing, playing a card game known as “Sheepshead”, sewing, baking, flower gardening and socializing with her family and friends.
Lillian was the mother of Kathleen Roberts and her surviving husband Peter Mitchell of Wellesley, Jean M. Roberts and her husband Kenny Tamarkin of Andover and Mary Routhe and her husband Larry of Fuquay, NC. Grandmother of Gina Mitchell, Tanya Greenblatt and her husband Scott, Noah Tamarkin and his wife Juno Parrenas, and Emily Tamarkin, John Routhe and his wife Melissa, and Katy Matthews and her husband Ryan. Great grandmother of Joshua, Michael and Theodore Greenblatt, John Routhe, Jr. and Ethan Routhe, Kennedy, Hunter, and Cameron Matthews. Sister of the late Charles Gesser and Florence Petri.
Calling hours are Wednesday, Jan. 18th, from 4-6 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thurs., Jan. 19th at 10 a.m. at St. William’s Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Those attending are asked to meet at church. Private interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Wellesley. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Michael J.
