John W. Jennison, age 95, a lifelong resident of Canton passed away January 12th one day after his 71st wedding anniversary. Born in Canton, he graduated from Canton High School Class of 1944 and was a proud Coast Guard Veteran of WW II. After his discharge from the Coast Guard he attended Coyne Electrical School on the GI Bill. He worked for many years as a Master Electrician for GTE, Sylvania. He was a longtime member of the American Legion Post 24 in Canton where he served on the Executive Board and a member of the Canton Town Club. He enjoyed working in his garden and worked out 3 times a week up until he was 89 years old.
Beloved husband of Ellen M. (Crowley). Father of John W. Jennison Jr and his wife Robin of Vero Beach, FL, James R. Jennison and his wife Donna of Canton, Jo-Ellen Kenney and her husband Randall of Lakeville, Janette M. Frye and her husband Kenneth of Orleans, and Joyce A. Foley and her husband Donald of Stoughton. Brother of Elinor Wedge of Easton, Russell Jennison of Canton, Susan Seaver of Springfield, and the late Lillian Staples and Phyllis Jennison. Also survived by grandchildren- Brian Jennison, Michelle Jennison Williams, Donnie and Meghan Foley, and Liam Kenney and Great grandchildren Lily and Riley Jennison and Finn Foley. He was predeceased by a grandson John W. Jennison III. Relatives and friends invited to attend a funeral service at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home 455 Washington St. Canton Friday morning January 20th at 11:00. Visiting hours Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. Burial St. Mary’s Cemetery, Canton.
