SPRINGFIELD – Janet Lee Cardin, 68, of the East Springfield section of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Springfield on December 9, 1954, a beloved daughter of the late Norman J. and Gloria J. (Barker) Cardin. She was raised in Springfield, graduated from the High School of Commerce in 1972, and moved to East Springfield in 1976 where she lived for most of her life. She was employed in the offices of many local insurance companies. Janet loved to try her luck at the casinos with her sister, Donna and her best friend, Dorie. She especially enjoyed spending time with her beloved dog, Sadie. She leaves her four loving siblings, Carol A. Wingate of Agawam, Theresa E. Katsoulis and her husband, George, of Longmeadow, Donna M. Cardin of Agawam and Norman J. Cardin, Jr. and his wife, Sanem, of Fairfax, VA; her three cherished nieces, Kimberly Wingate of Chicopee, Nicole Talbot of Coral Springs, FL and Selina Cardin of Fairfax, VA; and her many dear cousins, friends and extended family members. Her funeral services and burial will be private. There are no visiting hours.
