WEST SPRINGFIELD – Emily (Olbrych) Connolly, 96, of West Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Tuesday, January 10, 2023. She passed into Eternal Life at Heritage Hall East in Agawam surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Chicopee on August 23, 1926, a beloved daughter of the late Michael and Salomeja (Czarnowski) Olbrych. She was raised in Chicopee and received a Bachelor's Degree from Our Lady of the Elms College in Chicopee. She met the love of her life, Edward, in the Brightwood section of the North End of Springfield. Emily and Edward were married at the Basilica of Saint Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr in Chicopee on November 25, 1950 and were blessed with over 70 years of happiness together. They moved to West Springfield in 1968 where they lived a long and happy life together. Emily was the Vice President of the former Federal Land Bank on State Street in Springfield. She was very active with the Springfield Women's Club and volunteered and attended many social events in Springfield. She was a longtime communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Springfield. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and soul mate, Edward J. Connolly who was Called Home on October 26, 2021. She leaves her many cherished nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, cousins, extended family members and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her two dear brothers, Edmund Olbrych and Chester Olbrych; and her two dear sisters, Alice Niemiec and Mary Higgins. Her family will receive friends on Thursday, January 19, 2023 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 11 a.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107. Her Burial will follow the Celebration of Life Service at Saint Stanislaus Cemetery, 800 Montgomery Street, Chicopee, MA 01013.
