William Bernard Butler, age 86, lifelong resident of Taunton passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family and closest friends. Bill was a Sea Bee in the Navy and a Heavy Equipment Operator through Local 4 for his career. He was deeply in love with his wife of 54 years, Deirdre. He was a man of many interests. He enjoyed antiquing and perusing yard sales and flea markets with his late wife, and spending time in New Hampshire. Bill was a proud father and grandfather, and always enjoyed spending time with his family and sharing stories about his life. After the loss of his wife, Bill became an integral part of Field Street Flowers. He was a dedicated parishioner of St. Mary’s church in Taunton and was a member of the American Legion Post 405, the Knights of Columbus, and the Italian club of Taunton. Many mornings, Bill frequented Dunkin Donuts, and Mel’s Diner, sharing stories with his many friends. Bill was best known for his colorful personality and sense of humor. Bill is survived by his daughter, Colleen of San Francisco, his son, William and daughter in law, Sheryl, and grandchildren Brooke and William of Taunton and many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home 70 Washington Street in Taunton Tuesday, January 17th at 9:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St Mary’s Church in Taunton at 11 AM. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 5-7 PM. Interment St Joseph Cemetery in Taunton.
