Doris Evelyn Tanner, passed away on January 7, 2023, in Ventura with lots of Love from her son, daughter and grandsons.
Doris was born in Ventura to Parents John and Doris Woodson on September 8, 1939. She went to High School at Ventura High and graduated in 1957. She earned an AA degree from Ventura College and perused her career in Social Services for Ventura County. She enjoyed her work as a social worker and was promoted to supervisor. She was chosen and received an award for supervisor of the year of Ventura County. Doris liked dancing, music and being with friends including her ventures on ocean liner cruses and beautiful trips to other States and far away countries. She also enjoyed church services at Jubilee Fellowship.
Doris was a proud volunteer of ten years for Food Share that helps feed the hungry, she also volunteered for E.P. Foster Library with Friends of the Library that included book sales donations and inventory. Doris was an animal lover and donated to many animal organizations and charities as well as the Cancer Society, children’s hospital and research donations and charities and health research. Doris is survived by her brother Robert Woodson of Santa Barbara, son John Arnold, daughter Diane Simon and grandsons Tyler and Trentyn. She is proceeded in death by her husband Wayne Tanner. Funeral services were held at Joseph P. Reardon Funeral Home on January 18, 2023, at 2pm with Reverend Gary Dickey of United Methodist Church. Service, 757 E. Main Street, Ventura.
