NEW BEDFORD… Frank J. Adesso of New Bedford, MA, age 86, passed away on Monday, January 9, 2023 at St. Luke’s Hospital.
Husband of the late Lydia Adesso and son of the late Florentine and Antoinette (Orlando) Adesso. He was born in New Bedford and attended New Bedford schools. Frank lived in Fairhaven and Acushnet for a combined 33 years, and with his wife spent 15 winters in Port Charlotte, FL.
Frank wore many different hats. He was a Constable in the New Bedford area. He was also a Justice of the Peace, Notary Public, licensed Automobile Physical Damage Appraiser and Supervisor in both Massachusetts and Rhode Island, Real Estate Broker and a licensed School Bus Driver Instructor, and was also co-owner of Ideal Auto Body in New Bedford for 18 years and retired from Cigna Insurance Company after 18 years.
He was an avid bowler and in addition to bowling in several bowling leagues he was the secretary of the Sunday Night Leftovers league for 35 years. He was inducted into the SMBA Hall of Fame for his meritorious service in 1985 and in 1993 he was inducted into the Massachusetts Bowling Association Hall of Fame for meritorious service.
He is survived by daughters Sharon Rich and husband Stephen of New Bedford, Sheila Adesso of Westport and a son Steven and wife Stephanie of Katy, TX. He also leaves 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his late wife, he was brother of the late Christina Adesso, Constance Camacho, Antone Adesso, James Adesso, Theresa Florent, Florentine Adesso Jr., Doris Burgess, Mary Costa, Paul Adesso and Margaret Rodrigues.
Memorial service to which relatives and friends are invited to attend will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at Christ Temple UPC, 1198 Fish Road, Tiverton, RI 02878.
