Jimmy Lee Stewart, 46, of Tifton passed away Monday, January 9, 2023, at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta. A memorial service will be held for Mr. Stewart at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 13, 2023, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Christopher House officiating.
Born April 7, 1976, in Tifton, Mr. Stewart was the son of Steve and Martha Wood of Tifton. He was preceded in death by one grandchild, Bailey Johnson; two special uncles, Charles and Thomas Plair; an aunt, Barbara Dorden; and his grandparents, Sam and Nellie Plair. He was a carpenter, who built many houses in Tifton, and a member of Bible Baptist Church in Tifton.
Mr. Stewart loved spending time with his family and his grandchildren called him Papa Grumps. He loved to work on vehicles; he enjoyed drawing blueprints for houses; he loved to fish; and he enjoyed playing ball with his brothers. He also enjoyed spending time with Kasie and Mac, his special furry “children”. He was a mentor to any child who needed assistance.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Stewart is survived by his wife, Jennifer Lynn Ayers Stewart of Tifton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Shelby and Brent Johnson of Tifton and Summer and Christian Arnold of Irwinville; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Marcus and Celena Wood of Berrien County and Carlton and Angel Stewart of Tifton; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Karon Wood of Alapaha and Kathy and Junior Perry of North Carolina; five grandchildren, Junior Johnson, Tucker Johnson, Gracie Arnold, Allyson Brylee-Ann Johnson and Adalynn-Lee Pearl Arnold; two special nephews, Ty Wood and Koree Wood, who called him “Trunk Monkey”; and many other nieces and nephews.
