MEDWAY, MA… Lucille F. (Wynne) Olson, 100, of Medway passed away January 8, 2023, at Medway Country Manor.
She was the loving wife of the late Raymond Olson to whom she had been married for 65 years prior to his passing.
Born in Cambridge, she was a daughter of the late Vincent and Margaret (MacDonald) Wynne.
Mrs. Olson had a lifelong passion for singing. She started singing as a child. She, with her sisters, Kay and Tess, sang at USO shows during WWII. They were known as the Wynne Sisters Trio. Her sisters called her the “ice-breaker” because when she sang ‘With a song in my heart’ solo, servicemen would rush the stage and swoon. Throughout her life, she often attended the Conservatory of Music, sang at weddings, church choirs, plays, and radio programs. She worked for several years as a switchboard operator before moving on to become a secretary for a lawyer’s office in Boston. She was a mother of 8, tying on her sneakers in the morning and running all day. She loved having large holiday feasts and doting on her grandchildren when they arrived in her life as well. On warm August afternoons, she could be found sitting under maple trees for their cool shade or taking walks to the Charles River from her home.
Survivors include her daughter, Jane Olson-Dodsworth of Millis; her sons: Donald Olson of FL, Robert Olson of FL, David Olson of Fairhaven, Raymond Olson of FL and William Olson of NH; 12 grandchildren; many great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Bruce Olson and John Olson and sister of the late Katherine Lyon, Theresa Flynn, James Wynne, and Frank Wynne.
Graveside service to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Saturday, January 21, 2023, at 10:30 AM at Prospect Hill Cemetery, 74 Auburn Road Millis, MA 02054.
