Obituary

Elizabeth Munro Andersen, 95, passed away Monday at Mary Elizabeth Nursing Center.

Betty was born December 20, 1910 in Dundee, Scotalnd. After the death of her mother, when Betty was 4 years old, she was raised by her loving grandmother. At age 17, after her grandmother’s death, Betty was invited to come to Mystic by her Aunt, Mrs. Chalmers. Betty accepted the invitation reluctantly, but ended up living here for 77 years.

She was married to Ernest “Joe” Andersen for almost 50 years, living on Pleasant Street for many years. He died in 1994. More recently, Betty resided at The Elms of Westerly for 4 years and Mary Elizabeth Nursing Center for nearly 2 years. She faithfully attended Groton Bible Chapel as long as she was able.

Betty will be fondly remembered as a dedicated wife, industrious homemaker, and true friend to many.

Betty is survived by a niece, Ena Steward of Dundee, Scotalnd, and many loving and admiring caregivers and friends.

A Memorial Service will be conducted at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Hsitoric downtown Mystic on Saturday at 11am. Burial in Elm Grove Cemetery will be private. Please omit flowers and donations may be made to Groton Bible Chapel or a charity of the donor’s choice.
