Mr. Medhat L. Lotfy, a resident of Medford and beloved husband of Mona Youssef, and father of Michael Lotfy and Lily Lotfy, passed away at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston on Friday evening, January 6, 2023. He was 71 years old.
Born in Cairo, Egypt, Medhat was the youngest of 7 siblings. He immigrated to the U.S. with his wife Mona in 1985. He spent the majority of his career working for Xerox Corp. where he started as an engineer and eventually worked his way into finance after earning his MBA from University of Rochester in 1994. In his spare time, Medhat was an active member and board member of the Medford Senior Center where he also enjoyed playing pickleball with other Medford community members.
Medhat loved traveling to Geneva, Switzerland to visit his brother Refaat as well as Cairo to visit his other siblings and family members regularly. He had an annual trip to Puerto Rico every December where he got to enjoy the beach and quality time with dear friends. Over the past Christmas, he had a chance to visit his son in South Florida and spend quality time with his grandson.
Besides his beloved wife, Mona and two children, Michael and Lily, he is survived by his daughter in law, Armeni and grandson, Amun of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, siblings; Refaat Lotfy of Geneva, Switzerland, Samira and Mahassen Lotfy of Cairo, Egypt, and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Samir, Nader, and Mohsen Lotfy.
His Funeral will be held from the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at 10 AM followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford at 11:30 AM.
