Harriet (Capsalis) Dionis, 91 of Worcester passed away at Holy Trinity Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on Friday, January 6th. She leaves her husband of 68 years Chris, three sons Chris Jr. of Worcester, Michael and his wife, Janice of Worcester, John and his wife, Sandra of Niantic CT, a daughter, Marisa of Worcester; five grandchildren, Ariana, Christopher, Daniel, Matthew Dionis and his wife Christina, Kaitlin Ruffo and her husband, Joseph; two great-grandchildren, Avalyn Dionis and Jack Ruffo. She leaves a sister, Bessie Capsalis and brother, Peter Capsalis both of Worcester. She was predeceased by her daughter in-law, Jody Dionis.
She was born in Selio, Epirus Greece the daughter of Vassilios and Persephone Capsalis who immigrated to the United States in 1934. She was raised in Worcester, graduated from Commerce High School and was a legal secretary for 6 years until marriage. After raising her family she took classes at Worcester State College and was a teacher at St Spyridon Nursery School. She was a member of St Spyridon’s choir for 59 years, the Ladies Philoptochos Society and Senior citizens organization. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, crocheting, embroidery, drawing, oil painting and spending time with her family.
Her visitation is Tuesday January 10th from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. at St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street, Worcester with her funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Hope Cemetery, 119 Webster Street. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Harriet’s name to St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street, Worcester, MA 01609 or Holy Trinity Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 300 Barber Avenue, Worcester, MA 01606.
