Thomas F. “Tom” McFadden, Jr., 84, of New Bedford, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, following a long illness. He was the husband of Janice (Carlisle) McFadden.
A native and longtime resident of New Bedford, he was the son of the late Thomas F. and Josephine (Ulewicz) McFadden.
Tom enlisted in the U.S. Navy at the age of 17 years old and served honorably aboard several ships during his service to include the USS Meadowlark. Following his service in the Navy he was employed for 32 years by the Acushnet Company in New Bedford, where he worked as a plant manager.
Tom had a longstanding affinity for the New England sports teams, especially the Red Sox and Patriots. Tom was also a dog lover having owned a wide range of breeds over the years. Among his hobbies, he enjoyed stamp collecting, gardening, and was an avid golfer for a number of years.
He is survived by his wife Janice, and two sons, Terence and his wife Sherri McFadden of Putnam, CT, and Sean McFadden and his husband Glen McKenney of Boston. Tom was also the beloved grandfather of six grandchildren, Ashley (McFadden) Graham, Jocelyn, Melanie, Paige, Joshua, and Christopher McFadden and four great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Josephine, Amelia, and Wesley Graham.
He was predeceased by his brother Brendan Peter McFadden.
