PORTSMOUTH --- Karl Hans Stehr, 82, passed following a short illness on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at Concord Hospital in Laconia, NH.
Karl was born on January 17, 1940, in Brooklyn, NY, the son of the late Kord Heinrich and Emma (Reffel) Stehr of Germany.
Karl became a New Hampshire resident upon retirement from Bell Atlantic, where he worked as a technician for several decades. Prior to his career with Bell, he was a rigger for the U.S. Navy.
He enjoyed days with his family at the campsite at Great Sacandaga Lake, telling stories about life in Brooklyn, and above all, spending time with his beloved nephews.
Karl is survived by his nephews, Kord Anton Stehr II and his significant other Valerie Loika of Rotterdam, NY, and Patrick Karl Stehr and his significant other Roxanne Finigan of Haverhill, MA; and his great-nephew, Tyler Stehr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Kord Anton Stehr; his sisters-in-law, Catherine (Hansen) Stehr of Somerville, MA, and Berit Hammer-Duignan of Norway; and his nephew, Jon-Erik Stehr of Schenectady, NY.
A Joint Celebration of Life for Karl and his nephew, Jon-Erik will be held this Spring in their home state of New York.
