Ron was born in Chicago, Illinois on April 8. 1944. He grew up between Chicago and Southern California, landing in the Ventura/Oak View area 48 years ago. Ron was married for 51 years to Velma Lomax, and they raised their only child, Ronae Lomax Christensen in Oak View. Ron has raised his two grandchildren, Jadon Christensen and Kaylee Christensen for many years and opened his home to many who needed help over the years.
Ron was a master machinist and owned his own business along with his father, RCO Enterprises in Ventura for over 40 years before retiring due to his health issues. Ron made parts for the Apollo Space capsules, various space shuttles, and special parts to pack off dangerous gases in offshore oil rigs around the world. He was very talented and businesses came from all over the globe seeking his assistance in machining. He mentored FIRST Robotics Team 3925, Circuit of Life at Ventura High School, schooling the students in machining and manufacturing.
Ron is preceded in death by his mother, Gladys Lomax, father, Richard Lomax, two sisters, Sandy and Stacey, and two brothers, Craig and Rande. He is survived by his wife, Velma Lomax, his daughter, Ronae Christensen, grandchildren, Jadon and Kaylee Christensen, his brother, Michael Lomax of Seattle, WA, his sister, Susan Rutland of Ventura, and many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Ron wanted people to think he was a hard nose guy, but we all knew his marshmallow heart and loved him for that.
A private service will be held on January 28th. Loved ones from all over the US will be participating in a special ceremony at 5:30 p.m. PST to honor his life. The ceremony will also be on zoom. If you are interested in participating, please contact Velma at [email protected] for further details.
