Friends and family are mourning the loss of Suzanne Marie Gilmore of Ventura, California, who died peacefully on December 30, after braving Lewy Body Dementia. She was three weeks shy of her 77th birthday.
Suzie was born in Fresno, California, to John and Helen Errecart. She was raised on a farm on the west side of the San Joaquin Valley, graduated from Tranquillity High School in 1963, and later attended Fresno State and Ventura College. She was an outgoing, athletic teenager with a life-long love of the outdoors. Furthermore, she spent her summers at Huntington Lake with family and enjoyed year-round mountain activities at June Lake with friends. When not in the mountains, she could be found walking her dogs at Pierpont Beach. She retired in 2003 from a long and rewarding career in the Ventura Unified School District and became an accomplished quilter.
Suzie is survived by her son Justin Gilmore of Ventura; her daughter Grace Gilmore and son-in-law Juan Sanchez of Costa Mesa; her sister and brother-in-law Judy and Bill Green of Martinez, CA; her brother and sister-in-law Jim and Judy Errecart of Shaver Lake, CA; her grandchildren Bella Facciuto and Carson Gilmore of Ventura, Rebecca and Emily Sanchez of Costa Mesa; her sister-in-law, Ellen Gilmore of Ventura; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Tim and Ann Gilmore of Ventura; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Roy Gilmore, a teacher and basketball coach, and her parents John and Helen Errecart.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the many caregivers over the years, especially the staff at The Butterfly Inn in Ventura. Arrangements are being made by the Joseph P. Reardon Funeral Home in Ventura. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, or the Surfrider Foundation. A celebration of life will be held on February 4th, 2023 at 11:30am at the Poinsettia Pavilion in Ventura, CA.
